In theory gender discrimination is illegal, although practically discrimination exists everywhere you look. Equality in Britain has increased significantly since I was a child but many aspects of our culture are perpetuating discrimination against women.  When we have widely accepted cultural practices that are in essence discriminatory towards women we need to acknowledge that we are unwittingly promoting and maintaining gender discrimination. The Sound of Sexism in the UK

The BBC as  a public service broadcaster and the ever popular radio stations such as Capital are playing songs with lyrics that are sexist, misogynistic and degrading to women.  These songs are void of any creativity  yet are claiming the much sort after top positions in the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart.
