The effects of the  Scottish referendum have been far reaching.  Although with no change made to the make-up of the United Kingdom the referendum has made huge political changes to the whole of the United Kingdom.  At a total cost of £13.3m to run the referendum itself the most obvious result is that Scotland has flocked to the folds of the SNP, Scottish Labour has hit an all  time low and David Cameron has returned victorious to Downing Street. Scotland has voted no to independence, but was the campaign to achieve independence driven by the lack of democracy that we now have in the UK?

This post will examine other factors that have arisen in the UK that may also be the result of a lack of democracy.
