Fighting for the NHS

Words cannot really describe how outraged I have been feeling since Jeremy Hunt’s announcement that he intends to impose the new contract on junior doctors.  He has clearly highlighted his own inability to negotiate and respect the concerns of the doctors, who after all are the people with the greatest understanding of the risk to patient safety that this contract carries.  I have twice been on picket lines with junior doctors and seen the undisputable dedication they have to the NHS and its patients.  Jeremy Hunt’s decision shows disrespect to the intelligent, hardworking and dedicated doctors.  But he has also shown disrespect to the public who have supported the junior doctors and who rely on the NHS being there for whenever they need it.  The question in my mind is what next will he and his fellow Tories do?  I will admit I am frightened. Why are NHS campaigners getting angry about EU-US trade agreements?

The 12th July will be a national day of action where groups around the country will be campaigning against the EU-US trade agreement that is currently being discussed in Brussels.

The transatlantic trade and investment partnership, or TTIP, is getting many NHS campaigners worried.

This post will look at why so many people feel that TTIP may threaten the NHS and who the people are who are supporting this agreement.
