Once again the Labour Party is presented as increasingly factious by the majority of the press, this time over its leadership contest.  I have seen countless headlines that at best would be described as inaccurate interpretations of what is happening within the party.  But from talking to Labour Party members  I am hearing a different story.

Why the Conservatives are wanting Labour to say no to austerity

Forget all the government hype and remember that most people in Britain are feeling a squeeze on their living standards.  Many people are well aware that their future is far from secure, further governmental cuts may make their life even harder at a moments notice and there is nothing much they can do about it.  We should not be surprised that there has been a knee jerk reaction, with anti-austerity protests and public directed at the wealthy and powerful happening at regular intervals around the country. Ideals and realism need to combine to fight the Tories

I am not alone in having a feeling of impending doom when I consider the UK’s political outlook.  It feels so negative, there seems so little hope and I am rarely able to  believe a word that comes out of mouths of government ministers.  New boundary changes will grant an extra 20-25 seats to the Conservatives before 2020 and we now know that they will use any ploy however dishonest to win over the support of voters. Friday morning saw a huge number of people facing their greatest fear, like a bolt out of the blue, all hopes of a better government were banished.  With the resignation then of Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage there seems to have been a vacuum created.  Ideas, prophecies, anger, despair and desperation have all rushed to fill that vacuum but how much good is this doing? A morale booster for Hastings Labour

The local Labour Party supporters had an evening off from worrying about the actions of their Tory MP this week. The 84th show by the Stand up for Labour group was given in Hastings and supporters were delighted by the antics of Grumpy old Man, Arthur Smith alongside the musical comedy of Christian Reilly and stand up comedian Grainne Maguire.
