One of the statements used by the Conservatives to sell the Heath and Social Care Act back in the early days of the Coalition government was that it would increase patient choice. But here in East Sussex, campaigners have been protesting and signing petitions for years to avoid losing consultant-led maternity services from one of the two main hospitals in the region.
